TRNC President Ersin Tatar stated that his visit to the Anthropological Laboratory of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) with the Leader of Greek Cypriot Administration Nikos Christodoulidis was a purely humanitarian issue and that it was not right to create a perception that it paved the way for negotiations.
President Tatar made an evaluation regarding the continuation of the negotiations and said that they have no intention of continuing the negotiations as left in Crans Montana. The President noted that there is no change in the Turkish Cypriots’ political situation and added that if the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriots are confirmed, a negotiation process can resume. President Ersin Tatar attended the BRT live broadcast and answered questions regarding his joint visit to the Anthropological Laboratory of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) with Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulidis.

On 28th of July, 2023 President Ersin Tatar and the Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Christodoulides have paid a joint visit to the anthropological laboratory of the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) where they were briefed about the ongoing work of the Committee. Both leaders called upon persons who have information about possible burial sites to share this information with the CMP, and reminded witnesses that they can request confidentiality for any information shared, as credible information can accelerate the whole process of location, exhumation, and identification of the remains of missing persons. They also reaffirmed their conviction that the CMP conducts purely humanitarian work, emphasized the importance of insulating the CMP from political considerations, and called upon all concerned not to politicize this crucial work. Tatar was accompanied by his Special Representative Ergün Olgun, while Greek Cypriot leader Christodoulidis was accompanied by his Government Spokesperson Kostan...

Winds of Rotary Concert – A Turgay Hilmi Production at the Girne Amphitheatre on 30 July 2023....
By Heidi Trautmann….
It was a Cultural Cooperation of the cities of Girne and Georgensgmünd/Roth/Germany…. and many musicians came to Girne and shared the stage of our Amphitheatre with Cypriot musicians and Vox Africa for a musical mega event. Ayten Kiani-Benoit, President 2022-2023 of the Rotary Club of Kyrenia Cosmopolitan, Host of the concert, cites Plato: “Music gives a soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything”. It was a most impressive visual and audible impact on the audience in the round of the theatre, even an Alsatian entered the stage to see what it was all about. I have added the programme which shows that we were given a medley of different music genres merging seamlessly, from opera to musical, a visit to the Alps with alpine horn and cowbells and also a visit to the Wild West to my Facebook page. After the official ceremo...

Serdarlı was hit by a quick 1-2 as Kozanköy stormed into a two-goal first half lead in this 1st leg semi encounter played at a packed Üç Şehitler Stadium. Serdarlı pulled their socks up after the break and gave themselves a lifeline by pulling a goal back, so it’s all to play for in the second leg next weekend.

Sunday July 30 : Iktisatbank BTM League 2, Semi Final Play Off, 1st Leg. Görneç Üç Şehitler Stadium.
Weather: Very hot.
This season we have been following the fortunes of Group 8 teams, we have lost Tatlısu, Alanıçı, and Bahçeli, Serdarli are our last hopes of glory, though they go into the second leg behind but they still have a fighting chance.
The little stadium on the mountainside in Görneç was packed, I estimated a crowd of around 400. The atmosphere was noisy, electric, full of colour with flags and banners. Drums, drums, and more drums (let there be drums !).
The weather was boiling as well, norma...

From Ralph Kratzer (TFR The Foreign Residents in the TRNC).
Hello Readers, With joy but also with a bit of envy I saw the report and the pictures of our Events Manager Pamela Tschersich regarding the recent TFR boat trip on the occasion of the aerobatic show on Peace and Freedom Day 2023.
This year Sarah and I couldn´t attend due to personal and health reasons, but I am sure the TFR members on the boat have enjoyed the event, even without me... LOL!
Pamela wrote:
"The 24hrs of stress of having to completely reorganise our TFR event of seeing the SOLO TURK AIR DISPLAY over GIRNE Harbour was well worth witnessing the magnificent display from this very skilled pilot... My visiting Norwegian neighbour, Susanne Taklo, who is an almost fully qualified pilot herself, said she was so jealous of the fun that our Turkish pilot was having. We swam …some shot down the shute and not all of them youngsters I might add… some danced… drinks flowed… the food was late but ...

ACPA/KKSD - Association of Cyprus Paper Artists Workshop for Cyanotype Printing in July 2023
Our association has continued to hold workshops to widen the knowledge and application of paper in the widest sense. For the recent workshop, our member Sofia Hadjipapa was suggesting to introduce to the members of our association the Cyanotype Printing Technique and demonstrate the various possibilities. She distributed a list of what utensils to bring with us. The list is available on our messenger site.
So, on 17 July 2023, we met at Fatma Özok’s Clay Art Studio in Nicosia and Sofia gave us an introduction to the background of this technique which we learned is nearly 180 years old and was developed by Sir John Hershel. The first photo book, she explained was realized by a distant relative of his, Anna Atkins. I did some research on the internet and found some interesting links:

Commemorating Peace and Freedom Day: President Ersin Tatar addresses the main parade in Lefkoşa saying: “No formal negotiations until our sovereign equality and equal international status is reaffirmed”
“The period of conducting negotiations for the sake of negotiations, whilst attempting to crush Turkish Cypriots under isolation that is tantamount to persecution, has come to pass”
President Ersin Tatar led celebrations marking the 49th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation, undertaken by Türkiye on July 20, 1974, which brought real peace to the island and freedom to the Turkish Cypriot People, who endured years of island-wide attacks by Greek-Greek Cypriot forces as part of their aspiration to unite Cyprus with Greece.
The parade, which was held at the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard in Lefkoşa following the inauguration of the new terminal building and runway of Ercan Airport, was also attended by President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other high level off...

A ceremony was held at Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard in Lefkoşa on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of 20th July Peace and Freedom Day.
Speaking at the ceremony, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed his happiness to be in the TRNC on the 49th anniversary of the Peace Operation and paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for independence and future. Stressing the importance of the younger generations growing up with a strong sense of history, he reminded that between 1963 and 1974, supporters of ENOSIS caused unrest and disrupted peace on the island, inflicting suffering on the Turkish Cypriots.
“We have witnessed terrible massacres on these beautiful lands,” Erdoğan said and highlighted that all kinds of oppression were committed, but the Turkish nation never bowed to tyrants. “The Turkish Cypriots, whom they wanted to annihilate, are now living under their own flag, with confidence and hope,” he added.
Stressing that on the day when the Turkish soldiers ...

The British Residents' Society is probably the oldest NGO in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and through the years they have helped British ex-pats living or visiting the TRNC taking on the role of government liaison so that their members would have the latest helpful information wherever possible.
The TRNC is an unrecognized country except by Turkey and for people living here under unfair embargoes for many years the BRS after consulting their members started a UK Government Lobbying Campaign requesting an end to the injustice, racism, and inequality suffered by ALL residents of the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus by the UK Government.

Turkish Cypriot member of the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) Hakkı Müftüzade requested that the excavation of the Atlılar Mass Grave, which was decided by the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) to be carried out in May, should start without further delay. Müftüzade said that following the decision taken after the evaluation of all the factors taken into consideration by the CMC regarding the excavations, the work was postponed with a notification made by the Greek Cypriot Member two days before the start of the excavation.
Pointing out that this situation has led to the reaction of the families who have been waiting for nearly 50 years to bury their missing relatives, Müftüzade reminded that TRNC President Ersin Tatar drew attention to this postponement, which was clearly not based on any legitimate grounds, and called for the implementation of the decision taken by the CMP.

Hello, my friends my name is Chris Elliott looking at the events in Russia and the Ukraine, and at times it’s hard to accept the news being broadcasted and clearly, there are a lot of lies and misinformation being circulated to gain advantages.
This is not uncommon in politics and we only have to look at the history of the Cyprus Issue to see Greece and Greek Cypriots breaking the Cyprus Agreement and forcing the Turkish Cypriots from the then, Cyprus Government and pursuing a policy of ethnic cleansing which has been so well documented.
Now Great Britain as the former administrator of the island and one of the guarantors of the Cyprus Agreement quietly sat on their hands and watched things worsen over the years.
The UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus established in 1964 to prevent further fighting between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities and bring about a return to normal conditions has achieved very little other than to continue with an insistence that a settl...
