TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu met with the United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo at the UN headquarters. During the meeting, Ertuğruloğlu provided information to DiCarlo about the Yiğitler-Pile road project and emphasized the determination of the Turkish Cypriot side to complete this humanitarian project. He stressed that the international community needed to diagnose the Cyprus problem correctly, and that as long as the Greek Cypriot side treated as a “state” and the Turkish Cypriot side as a “community,” no effort will yield results. Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu held a bilateral meeting with Khusrav Noziri, Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organisation, of which TRNC is an observer member, on the margins of the 78th UN General Assembly meetings in New York. Informing Noziri about the latest situation in Cyprus during the meeting, Ertuğruloğlu stated that the negotiations on the basis of the federation, which had not yielded any results for 50 years, ended in 2017. TRNC President Ersin Tatar, who was is in New York for the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, has met with Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organisation of Turkic States. At check-in we were told that our bags would automatically be transferred to the connecting flight at Istanbul and everything on the flight out went extremely smoothly, landing at Istanbul airport on time, a smooth transition through passport control and we were right there in departures ready for our next flight to Ercan, with an hour and a half to spare we had ample time to grab a drink and chill, the flight to Ercan took off on time and landed at the expected time and all was good in the world. The flight back to Stansted however would test our stress limits "to say the least" While checking in at Ercan we were again told that our checked luggage would automatically be transferred to our second flight at Istanbul. 'Santana by Latin Power Tribute Band',  took to the stage at Girne  Amphitheater  as part of 'Girne Arkın group Fest 23', and thrilled the audience with their music. Performing the songs of the world-famous Latin American Santana, the group created a Latin breeze with the hit Santana songs. Approximately one thousand five hundred people attended the concert, and while all the songs were sung in unison from time to time, the audience could not sit still during almost the entire concert. The artworks are by Asst.Prof. Dr. Ergün Arda, who is also demonstrating ceramic techniques among other international artists in several studios at the old Municipality Building from 20-27 September 2023. The workshop is open for the public to visit. I did not have the opportunity to be at the opening of the exhibition so I asked the archaeologist Giovanna Fregni who has worked close to him at the Vounous Symposium and helped him to set up the exhibition to update me on the background of the artist and his artworks as I did not find any written information at the exhibition....

It's always a school day for the old and new teachers as well. Just over sixty teachers, teaching assistants and members of staff from the English School of Kyrenia, Bellapais school, Alternative Nature Time nursery and Bambini Montesorri nursery were all given first aid courses and refreshers in first aid by the Civil Emergency Services volunteers  CESV. This course included personal protection for the first aider, CPR, choking, cuts and minor injuries, burns, seizure, and environmental problems. This program is ongoing and we continually aim to improve our training. At the start of each course, we try to train in any new arrivals at the schools for staff and pupil's special needs. This is to explain why I am taking a special interest in this cemetery which has no lobby at all I had to find out. Since that time, I have been in continuous contact with the local authorities to do something about the appalling conditions the cemetery was and still is in. I delivered long reports with photo documentation which led to some reactions. Broken crosses all over the place were repaired and once a year the grass was cut. But that was all. I was also complaining that the cemetery had become a party place for people from the casinos for example and other night guests throwing bottles on the graves, breaking benches, and leaving all their dirt where they partied, in the winter months fire was lit among the graves.
