
Girne Municipality and NetAP the Swiss Network for Animal Protection (NetAP) have initiated a sterilization project for street animals. During the project, carried out between January 15 and 21, the sterilization operations, followed by rehabilitation and recovery processes for 121 dogs within the borders of Girne, were successfully completed.
The project planned a target of 100 dogs, but the teams exceeded the intended target by sterilizing 121 dogs. Six veterinary experts participated in the project. The sterilization project took place at the Girne Municipality Animal Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre. At the end of the project, appreciation certificates were presented to all project members by Girne Municipality Director Hüseyin Köle, Deputy Director Ahmet Türker, and Deputy Director Naile Soyel.
"Do not Buy, Adopt"
Emphasizing the humane sensitivity of the entire community towards street animals, Girne Municipality officials highlighted their goal of preserving the well-being of our animal friends on the streets and working towards a Girne where freedom and happiness are ensured for all beings. In this context, a message was conveyed to improve city life together: "Do not buy animals, adopt them. Also, do not abandon our pets on the streets."
