
260 saplings were planted by volunteers of the Cancer Research Foundation (KAV) and the Süleyman Cengiz Eminoğlu Foundation (CENGO-V) at Dilekkaya Forest, where the 21st Orchid Walk will take place. As part of the collaboration between the Cancer Research Foundation (KAV) and CENGO-V Foundation, the event held on Sunday, February 25, was attended by volunteers of the foundations, as well as Ali Karavezirler, the Mayor of Değirmenlik-Akıncılar Municipality, and Ahmet Menteşoğulları, the headman of Dilekkaya. The tree planting, carried out with the contributions of the Municipality and the Headmanship staff, took place in Dilekkaya Forest.
Volunteers of all ages participated in the event, which conveyed the message "healthy environment, healthy people". The event continued throughout the day. According to the statement made by KAV regarding the subject, tree planting will continue in the coming days.
The officials of KAV and CENGO-V expressed their views on the event as follows:
"The relationship between cancer and environmental factors is a known fact, the effects of a clean, natural environment on human health are also positive. Within the cooperation we have developed as KAV and CENGO-V Foundation, we are carrying out this event to contribute to the nature and greenery of our island, and thus support the health of our people. In this context, we are planting a total of 260 saplings in Dilekkaya Forest, where the 21st Orchid Walk will take place on Sunday, April 28. Our Değirmenlik - Akıncılar Municipality and our Dilekkaya Headman, as well as our municipal and headship staff, have also provided support. We will continue tree planting in the following days."
During the briefing meeting of the 21st Orchid Walk held recently, Ali Karavezirler, the Mayor of Değirmenlik - Akıncılar, stated that the Municipality would support the trees to be planted in the region, saying, "I promise to take care of these trees. What matters is not only planting them but also keeping them alive, protecting them, and passing them on to the future."
