Introduction by Chris Elliott....
We are sharing for our readers who are seeking the latest facts and information with the approval of the British Residents Society, news recently provided by them to their members on 12th February 2024, and it's sad to see that some people on social media love to start denigrating the efforts are others and try to encourage others to do the same.
Would these Naysayers ever think outside their little boxes and say "Hey can I give you some help?" The answer is No as CyprusScene has experienced over the years when sharing news and reviews for the benefit of others.
"VISIT BY UK PARLIAMENTARIANS
Last weekend the TRNC was visited by a group of UK parliamentarians, invited by the Freedom and Fairness for Northern Cyprus group.
Our Lobbying team have been working with this group to support the work they are engaged in.
On Friday 9th February at the Arkin Palm Beach Hotel, Famagusta the team met with Heather Wheeler MP, Baroness Nosheena Mobarik of Mearns, Giles Watling MP, Pauline Lathan MP and David Reed, to answer their questions about life in the TRNC. They also were happy to answer our questions regarding those issues key to UK ex-pats.
All of them expressed a desire to learn about the TRNC and its history.
During the meeting we were joined by President Ersin Tatar who engaged with all present.
The BRS Lobbying Campaign was started following a mandate from BRS members to look at the humanitarian issues which not only concern UK ex-pats but also all residents of the TRNC.
For some inexplicable reason we continue to draw criticism from ill-informed individuals who do not recognise that the Lobby group, who are all unpaid volunteers, are working for ALL residents of the TRNC in order to remove the embargoes that affect us all.
A shame that all they can do is criticise rather than support an initiative which could help all residents.

If you want more information regarding the Lobbying Campaign please visit the BRS website https://brstrnc.com and click on ‘Lobby'. We also have a British Residents Lobby Group page on Facebook so you can learn more about the campaign.
Editor's Note: BRS have an excellent members' Facebook page which gives information and allows members to ask questions however Facebook is excellent for sharing of information but it is no more than a stream of information and BRS found many questions were being asked time and time again so the BRS team developed BRITBOT on their website where members could retrieve information published on many past subjects.
