The second part of the exhibition entitled "RIVERS IN THE OCEAN", consisting of multimedia works by Alev Adil and Aslı Bolayır, will be presented to its audience at the ARUCAD Art Space in Nicosia on Friday, February 16, at 18.00. The two different variations of the theme addressed in the exhibition at Korai Project Space are parallel and complementary works, and this unique selection is present in two different fields at the same time.
The opening of the first part of the exhibition, curated by Esra Plümer Bardak, took place on February 9 at Korai Project Space and was received with great interest. The second part of the exhibition, at ARUCAD Art Space in Nicosia, will open on Friday, February 16, at 18.00 and remain on display until March. At the closing event of the exhibition a catalog of the exhibition, published by ARUCAD Press, including texts by artists Alev Adil, Aslı Bolayır, and Curator Esra Plümer Bardak, edited by Art Space Director Oya Silbery, will be presented.
Curator Esra Plümer Bardak describes the exhibition in her exhibition text as follows:
"The title RIVERS IN THE OCEAN playfully refers to the contradiction and inseparable connection between global issues and localities, serving as a starting point for addressing the ontological and metaphysical aspects of water currents, as well as people's abilities and shortcomings in coping with contemporary life. We observe that the prominent works here are related to the physical/psychological, natural/synthetic, and systemic structures that constitute, guide, and sometimes destroy the foundation of human experiences.
The exhibitions are based on the artists' collaborative works and individual thoughts on the concept of Amor Fati . Amor Fati, discussed by Friedrich Nietzsche, is the act of confronting one's own destiny. Alev Adil and Aslı Bolayır, with a broader interest in this concept, associate the action of 'accepting our fate' with situations and experiences where alternative spaces and identities emerge, reflecting people's bewildering closeness to nature and the natural movements, currents, and changes in life with narratives surrounding fate."
The opening of the exhibition titled RIVERS IN THE OCEAN will take place on Friday, February 16, from 18:00 to 21:00 at ARUCAD Art Space with the participation of the artists.
