Work Begins on Kordonboyu Project at Girne Old Harbour
Work has begun on the 'Kordonboyu Renewal Project,' one of Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul's priority projects. In addition to the renovation of the Ancient Harbour and simultaneously the arrangement of the streets around the harbour, with the completion of the 'Kordonboyu Renewal Project,' the Ancient Harbour will have a new face.

100% Disabled Access

The recreation project, which will come to life between the Dome Hotel and the entrance to the Ancient Harbour, aims to create a social area suitable for the needs of both the local people and tourists. The social area, with one hundred percent disabled access, will include viewing terraces which people of all ages can easily access and enjoy.

Additional Services

The project will include additional services to meet the needs of the local people; facilities such as resting areas, disabled vehicle parking, and new WC facilities will be provided  It is planned for the social area to be constantly monitored by security cameras and city security officers for daytime and night-time use.

Mayor Şenkul

Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul, on his social media account said the following on the start of the project: "We will not allow the ugliness in our country's politics to lead us to despair. We would like to announce that work has begun for the Girne Kordonboyu, which has been waiting to be renovated for years. Girne Kordonboyu is beautiful in every way, but when the work we have started is finished, our country will gain a very special public area."

The Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality will perform "Shakespeare's Ghost" again, this time in Lefkosa. The play, which has received intense interest from the audience since its first performance, will be staged at Lefkosa Atatürk Cultural Centre on Thursday, April 18th, at 20:30. In the announcement made by the Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality, it was mentioned that art enthusiasts who want to watch the play can obtain their tickets from the website www.kibrisbiletcim.com. Written by Ufuk Aydoğan and directed by Batuhan Oruç, the cast of the play includes Kıvanç Giritli, Ömer Dündar, Fatima Saatova, and Shernaz Yardımcı. The play "Crocodile Fire" will be performed in Girne on 26th and 27th April. The Turkish actress, Hazar Ergüçlü, is in the starring  role. She is famous in Turkey for her part in the series titled "Pearl Drops."  The play is sponsored by Girne Municipality and Birinci Global in collaboration with Kamacı Group, Özmerhan Group, Rocks Hotel, Uptown Hotel, and Girne American University.  The play will be performed at Girne American University Spectrum Hall, starting at 20:00 pm. Girne Municipality, Social Affairs Branch Directorate, has announced that half of the revenue from the play will be donated to the Champion Angels Foundation, and the other half will be donated to Girne Municipality Animal Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre.
