Girne Tourism Festival 2024 Starts
As part of "Tourism Week",  from April 15th to 22nd, the 'Girne Tourism Festival' is being organized. Sponsored by the Deputy Prime Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment, with contributions from Girne Municipality, the festival will start on Saturday, April 20th, at Girne Ancient Harbour.

Various cultural and artistic events such as music, theatre, and folk dances will continue throughout the day, starting at 10:30 a.m. The festival, where food and beverage stalls will also be available, concludes with a concert by Fikri Karayel at 9:30 p.m. As the first major event following the restoration of Girne Ancient Harbor, the 'Tourism Festival' will feature free refreshments, free tours of Girne Ancient Harbour and Castle, as well as activities such as cartoon drawing, exhibitions, and cello performances.

Event Schedule

The festival schedule, announced by the Deputy Prime Ministry and Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports, is as follows:

- 10:30 a.m.: Gathering of the procession at the Social Life and Lifelong Learning Centre (former Girne Municipality building).

- 11:00 a.m.: Procession starts from the Social Life and Lifelong Learning Centre (former Girne Municipality building), passing through Ziya Rızkı Street and in front of Rocks Hotel, and reaching the event area at Girne Ancient Harbor.

- 12:15 p.m.: Official speeches.

- 12:45 p.m.: Group Otantik concert (Stage 1).

- 1:30 p.m.: Vadili Folk Dance show (Stage 2).

- 2:00 p.m.: Ahmet Ced concert (Stage 1).

- 2:00 p.m.: State Theatres Theatre show (Stage 3).

- 2:45 p.m.: Akdoğan Folk Dance show (Stage 2).

- 3:30 p.m.: Ulaş Barış Concert (Stage 1).

- 3:30 p.m.: State Theaters Theater show (Stage 3).

- 4:15 p.m.: TUFAD Folk Dance show (Stage 2).

- 4:30 p.m.: DJ performance (Stage 1).

- 5:15 p.m.: Değirmenlik Municipality Folk Dance show (Stage 2).

- 5:30 p.m.: Serdar Quintet concert (Stage 1).

- 6:00 p.m.: State Theatres Theatre show (Stage 3).

- 6:15 p.m.: Karşıyaka Culture and Art Association Folklore show (Stage 2).

- 6:30 p.m.: Group Rast concert (Stage 1).

- 7:15 p.m.: Alayköy Folk Dance show (Stage 2).

- 7:30 p.m.: Traditional Cyprus Costumes Parade (Stage 2).

- 7:30 p.m.: Jazz concert (Stage 1).

- 8:30 p.m.: Berkay and Ezgi concert (Stage 1).

- 9:30 p.m.: Fikri Karayel concert (Stage 1).

The Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality will perform "Shakespeare's Ghost" again, this time in Lefkosa. The play, which has received intense interest from the audience since its first performance, will be staged at Lefkosa Atatürk Cultural Centre on Thursday, April 18th, at 20:30. In the announcement made by the Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality, it was mentioned that art enthusiasts who want to watch the play can obtain their tickets from the website www.kibrisbiletcim.com. Written by Ufuk Aydoğan and directed by Batuhan Oruç, the cast of the play includes Kıvanç Giritli, Ömer Dündar, Fatima Saatova, and Shernaz Yardımcı. The play "Crocodile Fire" will be performed in Girne on 26th and 27th April. The Turkish actress, Hazar Ergüçlü, is in the starring  role. She is famous in Turkey for her part in the series titled "Pearl Drops."  The play is sponsored by Girne Municipality and Birinci Global in collaboration with Kamacı Group, Özmerhan Group, Rocks Hotel, Uptown Hotel, and Girne American University.  The play will be performed at Girne American University Spectrum Hall, starting at 20:00 pm. Girne Municipality, Social Affairs Branch Directorate, has announced that half of the revenue from the play will be donated to the Champion Angels Foundation, and the other half will be donated to Girne Municipality Animal Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre.
