World Art Day Celebrated At ARUCAD
As part of the World Art Day celebrations on April 15, students from ARUCAD's Acting Department took the stage with the performance "As Memories Multiply, Roses Wither on the Screen." An interactive performance, projected from Sevim Burak's book "Pencere," was showcased, involving the audience in a short interactive performance. Directed by Ersen Çık, the performance featured Ersan Çık, Selin Çolak, and Yalın Doğasal in leading roles, under the direction of Dr. Güneş Kozal.

What happened next?

Following the performance, the event continued with a discussion titled "On the Stage of Art," featuring the renowned Turkish Cypriot actor Osman Alkaş. Alkaş, who has contributed to many significant cinema films and television productions in Cyprus and Turkey.  He discussed what it means to practice art on the island, his beginnings in acting, and his experiences on stage.

Osman Alkaş said, "Art is about creating. As long as you create, you exist. The important thing is to produce. By producing, you develop yourself. I have great hope in the youth; they are intelligent... My biggest advice to them is to sit down and listen to themselves. Write down your thoughts. What emerges will surprise you. Demand opportunities from those who have power and authority."

What's the price to pay?

Alkaş emphasized that comfort is the biggest obstacle to art and creativity, stating, "You will pay a price. You will isolate yourself, you will think. While your friends are out having fun, you will sit and do something for yourself, for your profession, so that beautiful products can emerge. People create more in difficulties."

The discussion with Osman Alkaş, moderated by the Dean of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Prof. Dr. Kerem Karaboğa, received great interest from students. ARUCAD Rector Prof. Dr. Asım Vehbi presented Alkaş with a gift produced in the university's workshops.

The discussion took place at the ARUCAD Conference Hall and was broadcasted on the University's YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn channels.
