A Girne Play review of 'I Close My Eyes and Do My Duty'

The theatrical performance of 'I Close My Eyes and Do My Duty' by the Girne Municipality Theater Youth Team was a significant cultural event, held at the Girne Chamber Theater.

This play, penned by the esteemed Turkish playwright Haldun Taner, is a poignant exploration of Turkey's sociopolitical landscape from the era of the Second Constitutional Monarchy until the late 1960s.

Through the intricate life stories of its characters, the play delves into the profound social transformations that occurred during this turbulent period in history. The young actors' portrayal of these narratives provided the audience with an engaging and enlightening evening, reflecting the enduring relevance of Taner's work.

The Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality will perform "Shakespeare's Ghost" again, this time in Lefkosa. The play, which has received intense interest from the audience since its first performance, will be staged at Lefkosa Atatürk Cultural Centre on Thursday, April 18th, at 20:30. In the announcement made by the Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality, it was mentioned that art enthusiasts who want to watch the play can obtain their tickets from the website www.kibrisbiletcim.com. Written by Ufuk Aydoğan and directed by Batuhan Oruç, the cast of the play includes Kıvanç Giritli, Ömer Dündar, Fatima Saatova, and Shernaz Yardımcı. The play "Crocodile Fire" will be performed in Girne on 26th and 27th April. The Turkish actress, Hazar Ergüçlü, is in the starring  role. She is famous in Turkey for her part in the series titled "Pearl Drops."  The play is sponsored by Girne Municipality and Birinci Global in collaboration with Kamacı Group, Özmerhan Group, Rocks Hotel, Uptown Hotel, and Girne American University.  The play will be performed at Girne American University Spectrum Hall, starting at 20:00 pm. Girne Municipality, Social Affairs Branch Directorate, has announced that half of the revenue from the play will be donated to the Champion Angels Foundation, and the other half will be donated to Girne Municipality Animal Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre.
