ATAOĞLU TALKED ABOUT THE WORK ON TOURISM

At the beginning of his speech, Minister Ataoğlu pointed out the importance of the messages given on the 50th anniversary of the Peace Operation and said, "The unity and solidarity shown 50 years ago was also shown in the 50th year. I hope that the events of those years will not happen again."

In response to a question about the motion passed in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Minister Ataoğlu said, "If such a motion is needed, the Parliament will convene after a call to be made here and I am sure it will pass unanimously here as well."

Minister Ataoğlu also conveyed the work on the promotional campaign under the name of "Island Cyprus", which was carried out in order to attract more tourists from Turkey to Northern Cyprus.

Stating that the work on the campaign has been going on for about 9 months, Ataoğlu said, "We want everyone in the TRNC to come to the TRNC. We call on them to come to this island, which uses the same language and the same currency. Our goal is to reach every corner of Turkey. We set out years ago to increase the number of tourists coming from Turkey, and now we see that we can reach millions at a much lower cost."

Promoting tourism for the TRNC

Mentioning that they aim to move tourism forward with television advertisements and promotions to be made with phenomena in England, Russia, Germany and other countries outside of Turkey, Ataoğlu said that they use social media as well as television visuals.

Minister Ataoğlu also stated that they are striving to ensure that the new airport operates at full capacity.

Noting that they have increased the number of planes and flights, and that efforts are being made for new airline companies to start flying, Ataoğlu said that there has been a 40 percent increase in flights, but flight ticket prices should also be balanced. We continue to work on how we can fly to different provinces of Turkey and how we can increase the number of aircraft."

Stating that the number of registered beds in the country is around 30 thousand, Ataoğlu said that the work on increasing the number of beds and hotels continues, and that they are working in consultation with the relevant ministries.

Increasing flights to the TRNC

Noting that efforts are underway to increase flights, new aircraft companies to start serving and to reduce flight ticket prices, Minister Ataoğlu said that initiatives have started to identify new lands for the construction of new hotels.

Minister Fikri Ataoğlu stated that they want to pass the 'Airbnb' law quickly and said that they will be able to clearly see the number of tourists coming to the country thanks to the law.

Ataoğlu stated that after the 'Airbnb' law is passed, the houses rented by people to tourists will come under the control of the Ministry of Tourism and it will be known how many people stay in the country, and that thanks to the law, the number of people will be officially known and the Finance will be able to collect taxes from the people who rent them.

Minister Ataoğlu noted that the law in question is ready, that they will send it to the parliament when the parliament opens and that they will demand priority for the passage of the law.
