ARUCAD Academics Present Their Work at CUDES 2024 Congress in Georgia

Associate Professor, Dr. Nuran Öze, Director of the Institute and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Communication at Arkın Creative Arts and Design University (ARUCAD), and Associate Professor, Dr. Elham Etemadi, Head of the Textile and Fashion Design Department, represented the university at the CUDES 2024: 15th International Conference on Current Discussions in Social Sciences.  The event was  held on September 7-8, 2024, at Grigol Robakidze University in Batumi, Georgia.

CUDES 2024 is known as a prestigious platform for presenting current research in various fields of social sciences. At the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Nuran Öze shared her study titled “Aging and Digitalization Through the Eyes of Individuals Under 65: Inclusion in the Herd or Exclusion from It?” Her work received high praise from the conference organizing committee and was awarded the ‘Best Paper Award’. Öze’s study focused on the socio-cultural impacts of the digital age on older individuals, examining both the opportunities and risks of exclusion brought about by digitalization.

ARUCAD's Associate Professor, Dr. Elham Etemadi presented her paper titled “The Victory of Capital: The Social Prestige of Art in Iran.” Etemadi's research explored the effects of capitalism on artistic production in Iran and provided insights into the relationship between art and social status and prestige. Her analysis of how the capitalist structure shapes the Iranian art world garnered attention.

At CUDES 2024, which featured seventy-six presentations from eleven countries, the presentations by ARUCAD academics were well-received by conference participants for their unique perspectives on various dimensions of social sciences.

The Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality will perform "Shakespeare's Ghost" again, this time in Lefkosa. The play, which has received intense interest from the audience since its first performance, will be staged at Lefkosa Atatürk Cultural Centre on Thursday, April 18th, at 20:30. In the announcement made by the Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality, it was mentioned that art enthusiasts who want to watch the play can obtain their tickets from the website www.kibrisbiletcim.com. Written by Ufuk Aydoğan and directed by Batuhan Oruç, the cast of the play includes Kıvanç Giritli, Ömer Dündar, Fatima Saatova, and Shernaz Yardımcı. The play "Crocodile Fire" will be performed in Girne on 26th and 27th April. The Turkish actress, Hazar Ergüçlü, is in the starring  role. She is famous in Turkey for her part in the series titled "Pearl Drops."  The play is sponsored by Girne Municipality and Birinci Global in collaboration with Kamacı Group, Özmerhan Group, Rocks Hotel, Uptown Hotel, and Girne American University.  The play will be performed at Girne American University Spectrum Hall, starting at 20:00 pm. Girne Municipality, Social Affairs Branch Directorate, has announced that half of the revenue from the play will be donated to the Champion Angels Foundation, and the other half will be donated to Girne Municipality Animal Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre.
