AŞBMA and KTBB signed a cooperation protocol

Tamraz Taghiyev, President of the Union of Azerbaijan City Municipalities (ASBMA) and Mayor of Narimanov Municipality met with the Mayor of Girne  Murat Şenkul. At the meeting held at Girne Municipality, the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities (KTBB) and Güzelyurt Mayor Mahmut Özçınar, Gönyeli Mayor Hüseyin Amcaoğlu, Girne Municipality Director Hüseyin Köle, Girne  Municipality Foreign Relations Secretary Fatih Akyol and KTBB Director Muammer Güneş and the delegation from Azerbaijan took part.

After the meeting, which lasted about 1 hour, the delegations went to the Colony Hotel for the cooperation protocol to be signed between AŞBMA and KTBB and held a protocol signing ceremony.

AZERBAIJANI DELEGATION

Within the scope of the visit, in the Azerbaijani delegation; Mayor of Nesimi Aziz Zeynalov, Mayor of Sumqayit Municipality Orkhan Adigozelzade, Mayor of Kepez Municipality Yashar Abdullayev, Director of Foreign Relations of the Union of Azerbaijan City Municipalities Amrah Imanov, Foreign Relations Advisor of the Union of Azerbaijan City Municipalities Rovshan Mammadov took part.

PROTOCOL SIGNED

The protocol signed between the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities (KTBB) and the Union of Azerbaijan City Municipalities (ASBMA) provides for the establishment and maintenance of systematic consultation and information exchange between the local governments of the party countries; It includes the decision to cooperate under the coordination of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities (TDBB).

Within the scope of the protocol, which covers the purpose of cooperation in education, health, youth and sports, tourism, protection of historical and cultural heritage, environment, energy, culture/art, infrastructure/superstructure, technical and humanitarian aid, information technologies and transportation; Experience sharing, expert exchange programs, and project implementations will be carried out.

In accordance with the protocol, the parties will support and encourage the development of economic, social, and cultural relations between the cities of the two countries through local diplomacy and the establishment of sister-city relations. The Parties will provide the necessary incentives and support to investors and entrepreneurs in order to ensure local development.

The Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality will perform "Shakespeare's Ghost" again, this time in Lefkosa. The play "Crocodile Fire" will be performed in Girne on 26th and 27th April. The Turkish actress, Hazar Ergüçlü, is in the starring  role. She is famous in Turkey for her part in the series titled "Pearl Drops."  The play is sponsored by Girne Municipality and Birinci Global in collaboration with Kamacı Group, Özmerhan Group, Rocks Hotel, Uptown Hotel, and Girne American University.  The play will be performed at Girne American University Spectrum Hall, starting at 20:00 pm. Girne Municipality, Social Affairs Branch Directorate, has announced that half of the revenue from the play will be donated to the Champion Angels Foundation, and the other half will be donated to Girne Municipality Animal Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre.
