This Year We Run for School Support

The Pasha Group Girne Half Marathon 2024 will be run on Sunday, September 22. This year marks the fifth holding of the event in the TRNC, which is recognized as an international-level half marathon and boasting a total prize pool of 435,000 TL.

According to information from the Girne Municipality Marathon Committee, in addition to the 75,000 TL awarded for overall classifications, this year for the first time, a total of 360,000 TL will be distributed across 9 different age categories (male/female). Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 in overall classifications and the top 4 in age categories.

Additionally, this year, the "Adidas Girne Special Award" will be presented to the top three male and female athletes among TRNC competitors.

This Year, Additional Classrooms And Maintenance Support Will Be Provided To Primary Schools

This year, the Girne Half Marathon will support schools within the boundaries of Girne Municipality by providing building assistance and maintenance support, following last year’s event aimed at benefiting our beloved furry friends.

Runs Starting on September 22

The Pasha Group Girne Half Marathon 2024, which is held annually with a large participation, is set to begin on Sunday, September 22. With online and individual registrations currently ongoing, a large turnout is expected. According to the Girne Municipality Marathon Committee, registrations for the 10K and 21K athletes will continue until September 21 at 18:00, while registrations for the 3K event will be available on-site until September 22 at 10:45.

The chip-timed bib numbers and kits for the 10K and 21K athletes will be distributed during the "Pasta Party" at Grand Pasha Kyrenia Hotel on Saturday, September 21, from 15:30 to 18:30.

The Pasha Group Girne Half Marathon 2024 will start in front of the Atatürk Monument on the waterfront and will feature three different categories: the 3 km public run, and the 10 km and 21 km classifications, across 9 separate age categories.

Chip System

Thanks to the chips embedded in the bib numbers worn by runners, the marathon will enable real-time tracking of participants, ensuring they are on the correct course. This system will allow referees to monitor and provide immediate live results at the control centre. Additionally, during the 21K run, runners will be able to track their times in real-time through an on-vehicle timing system.

Registration

The Girne Municipality Marathon Committee announced that all citizens wishing to participate in the marathon can apply online at www.alivex.com for the 10 km and 21 km categories. For the 3 km public run, participants can register at the Girne Municipality New Service Building, Social Life Center (former municipality building), Girne District Offices, and mobile registration teams.

The play "Crocodile Fire" will be performed in Girne on 26th and 27th April. The Turkish actress, Hazar Ergüçlü, is in the starring  role. She is famous in Turkey for her part in the series titled "Pearl Drops."  The play is sponsored by Girne Municipality and Birinci Global in collaboration with Kamacı Group, Özmerhan Group, Rocks Hotel, Uptown Hotel, and Girne American University.  The play will be performed at Girne American University Spectrum Hall, starting at 20:00 pm. Girne Municipality, Social Affairs Branch Directorate, has announced that half of the revenue from the play will be donated to the Champion Angels Foundation, and the other half will be donated to Girne Municipality Animal Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre.
