Erdoğan reiterates his call for recognition of TRNC

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

“As the country with the longest coastline in the Eastern Mediterranean, Türkiye's key role is undeniable,” President Erdoğan underscored. “Türkiye has rights to the north and west of the Island of Cyprus in the declared continental shelf and Turkish Cypriots have rights all around the Island. It has been 50 years since the Cyprus Peace Operation and 61 years since the Cyprus issue emerged as a result of the usurpation of the partnership state by Greek Cypriots. From that day to this, peace and tranquillity have prevailed on the Island.

It has always been the Turkish Cypriots and Türkiye that have shown a sincere will to bring about a just, permanent and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue. The federation model has now completely lost its validity. There are two separate states and two separate peoples on the island. The sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriots, which are their inherent rights, should be reaffirmed, and the isolation should now come to an end. Today, I once again call on the international community to recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and establish with it diplomatic, political and economic relations”.

Ertuğruloğlu: “President Erdoğan has once again strongly emphasized the vision based on two sovereign equal states in Cyprus”

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu, said that Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's speech at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which reaffirmed strong support for the vision on the Cyprus issue, was welcomed by the Turkish Cypriot people.  Minister Ertuğruloğlu affirmed that the call of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, to the international community to recognize the independence of  the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and to establish diplomatic, political, and economic relations, as he did in his speeches at the 77th and 78th General Assemblies, has provided strong support for our national cause.

Ertuğruloğlu also added that President Erdoğan, in his speech, once again strongly emphasised to the international community that the vision based on two sovereign equal states in Cyprus is gaining considerable support.  The Minister said, “I extend my deepest gratitude to President Erdoğan for his strong support of our national Cyprus cause, which aims to see the TRNC take its rightful place within the international community.”

The Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality will perform "Shakespeare's Ghost" again, this time in Lefkosa. The play, which has received intense interest from the audience since its first performance, will be staged at Lefkosa Atatürk Cultural Centre on Thursday, April 18th, at 20:30. In the announcement made by the Theatre Groups of Girne Municipality, it was mentioned that art enthusiasts who want to watch the play can obtain their tickets from the website www.kibrisbiletcim.com. Written by Ufuk Aydoğan and directed by Batuhan Oruç, the cast of the play includes Kıvanç Giritli, Ömer Dündar, Fatima Saatova, and Shernaz Yardımcı. The play "Crocodile Fire" will be performed in Girne on 26th and 27th April. The Turkish actress, Hazar Ergüçlü, is in the starring  role. She is famous in Turkey for her part in the series titled "Pearl Drops."  The play is sponsored by Girne Municipality and Birinci Global in collaboration with Kamacı Group, Özmerhan Group, Rocks Hotel, Uptown Hotel, and Girne American University.  The play will be performed at Girne American University Spectrum Hall, starting at 20:00 pm. Girne Municipality, Social Affairs Branch Directorate, has announced that half of the revenue from the play will be donated to the Champion Angels Foundation, and the other half will be donated to Girne Municipality Animal Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre.
