The play ‘Tartüf 24’ received a standing ovation

The play ‘Tartüf 24’ staged by the Lefkoşa Municipality Theatre took the stage on Wednesday evening, September 11, as part of the ‘Girne Arkın Group Fest24’. The play, staged at 9:00 p.m. at the Girne Amphitheatre, was watched by an audience of approximately 1,500. Written by Moliere in the 7th century and later fictionalized by Nazım Hikmet, the political comedy ‘Tartüf 24’ received a standing ovation from the audience.

At the end of the play, which lasted approximately two and a half hours, the play’s director Yaşar Ersoy, Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul and Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality Mayor Mehmet Harmancı each gave speeches.

In his speech, Yaşar Ersoy commemorated Işın Cem, one of the founders of the Lefkoşa Municipality Theatre who passed away a year ago, and reminded that they dedicated the play ‘Tartüf 24’ to Cem.
