From DBRM Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club….

TRNC's very own DBRM's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu team is increasingly attracting attention, for all the right reasons.

Recently, the International Jiu-Jitsu School, which is based in Paphos, invited Professor Juliano and his Kyrenia-based club to participate in an inter-club seminar to be hosted at the IJS's home. Professor Juliano cordially accepted the invitation, and the necessary plans were made for an epic get-together between the two martial arts clubs from different sides of the island.

The seminar, which took place on 7th December, enabled students of both clubs to receive instruction from different teachers of their chosen art, as well as opportunities to practice and test their skills with other practitioners who they previously had not met. Around twenty of the DBRM'S team made the three or so hour journey south to Paphos and were warmly welcomed by their hosts into a lovely dojo.

Professor Juliano, a member of the Behring International Association, and Professor Vitalli, a member of ZR Team, worked together to deliver valuable teachings in self-defense and sportive jiu-jitsu to eager students, who had been divided into appropriate age groups by the two black belt teachers. During an introduction and brief Q & A time, Professor Juliano told young students about his background as a student of Grand Master Flavio Behring, as well as his time learning from the founders of Jiu-Jitsu, the Gracie's. One student said, "The IJS students asked Professor (Juliano) a lot of questions about the Gracie's and his time in Brazil!"

Throughout both youth sessions, supportive parents from both teams watched and encouraged their children, while the ones in their gi’s took another exciting step in their jiu-jitsu journeys; learning from and studying with new people, but equally as important, they had fun and formed new friendships.

DBRM meets to train several times per week at Locus Studios, which is next to Mana Coffee in Girne, moments along from the Les Ambassedeurs Hotel. If you are considering martial arts for yourself or your children, you can contact Professor Juliano through WhatsApp on +90 533 879 40 04. Students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds are welcome..
