Painting Workshop Held By KKTC Orthopaedic Disabled Association Members of the Cyprus Turkish Orthopaedic Disabled Association participated in a painting workshop. The '2nd MÜZler Art Symposium' part of the ongoing 'Girne Arkın Group Fest24', has hosted a painting workshop for members of the Cyprus Turkish Orthopaedic Disabled Association. During the workshop, which featured 35 artists from 7 countries, the members engaged in painting activities.  The workshop was guided by  Project Coordinator Nevin Halis.  These art workshops are crucial for the personal development of individuals with disabilities and their participation in society. Girne Art Workshop For Special Needs Students Students under 18  from the Girne Special Education and Vocational Training School participated in an art workshop. The ongoing '2nd MÜZler Art Symposium', part of the 'Girne Arkın Group Fest24', hosted a day filled with art for the students from Girne Special Education and Vocational Training School. The workshop included 35 artists from 7 countries, during which the students engaged with unusual ceramic work. Since September 14, the '2nd MÜZler International Art Symposium' has been taking place at the Girne Municipality Social Living Centre. Project Coordinator Nevin Halis has shared these art workshops, which are important for the personal development within society, of the participating individuals with disabilities. AŞBMA and KTBB signed a cooperation protocol Tamraz Taghiyev, President of the Union of Azerbaijan City Municipalities (ASBMA) and Mayor of Narimanov Municipality met with the Mayor of Girne  Murat Şenkul. At the meeting held at Girne Municipality, the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities (KTBB) and Güzelyurt Mayor Mahmut Özçınar, Gönyeli Mayor Hüseyin Amcaoğlu, Girne Municipality Director Hüseyin Köle, Girne  Municipality Foreign Relations Secretary Fatih Akyol and KTBB Director Muammer Güneş and the delegation from Azerbaijan took part. Tatar meets Erdoğan in New York President Ersin Tatar met Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, at the Türkevi Centre in New York. President Tatar criticizes UK troop deployment to Cyprus  TRNC President Ersin Tatar reacted to the UK's decision to send 700 additional troops to its sovereign bases on the island, with Britain citing the need to evacuate its citizens from war-torn Lebanon. In an interview with Anadolu Agency on Thursday, Ersin Tatar said that amid continuing attacks in Gaza and the risk of Israel launching a large-scale attack on Lebanon, the purpose of the UK sending an additional 700 troops to its sovereign bases on the island for evacuations could indicate the possibility of a regional war. The wind of Mor ve Ötesi blew in Girne Girne hosted a magnificent concert on Friday evening, September 20th, 2024. The Mor ve Ötesi concert, which took place within the scope of 'Girne Arkın Group Fest 24', had an unforgettable night with the participation of approximately 4,500 people. Mor ve Ötesi, who took the stage at 21:00pm, offered a musical feast to the audience with their beautiful songs. Returning to my old home in Nicosia what a surprise I had By Eren Erdogan from Australia I attended the opening on 9th October 2018 of a little cultural house by the North Nicosia Mayor, which happens to be my family house in Nicosia. Now owned by two beautiful natured and looking sisters who renovated the house to its former glory and turned it into a beautiful small boutique accommodation and cultural cafe kitchen. It’s now called “İskemleci” (Cypriot chair maker) and it’s located at 50 Mahmut Paşa Sokak Nicosia. The İskemleci family is well known as Öke family and  had their share of bad fortune loosing family members within a short time frame. The most notable of my childhood friends Mehmet Öke the father of the girls, current owners Melos and Gulfer Öke bought the house from us over ten years ago. SPOT collected 700 kg of plastic from a 70m beach! Readers mail.. 09/20/2024 From Damla Beton In order to celebrate World Coastal Cleanup Day on September 20th, 13 SPOT SPOT Marine Life volunteers cleaned the 70-meter-long turtle nesting beach in Esenköy for 3 consecutive days. A total of 700 kilograms of plastic waste was collected from this 70-meter beach. Although it is increasing today, public awareness has not yet reached the hoped-for level. In particular, efforts to reduce plastic waste are very limited. As a result, all this waste reaches streams, forests, beaches and seas. Waste from the open seas is also added to this. All this waste slurry is washed onto our beaches by currents and storms. The main topic was to coordinate and join forces in our meetings with the Ministries of the TRNC. With the background of the latest changes to the property law and open questions about the residency process (which now includes the exemption regulation for over 60s), amongst other issues, it was agreed that it makes sense to coordinate our activities because we are literally singing from the same hymn sheet. It will also ease the way to get meetings with the different Ministers and their staff when they know that the 2 biggest associations for foreigners in the TRNC are working together. TRNC Speeding Fines By SMS... and More The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr Erhan Arikli, recently announced to the Turkish Agency Cyprus News agency a number of important transport-related measures. The following is a digest of those announcements. Speeding Fines by SMS The Minister said that at the moment there are 112 speed detection cameras in the country many of which are not working. Mr Arikli said that a Turkish company, Radarsan , an organisation affiliated with the Turkish defence industry, is currently producing 150 cameras to replace all the existing cameras. That figure may be increased to 300 cameras if necessary. The Minister said "we are now having great difficulty in notifying and collecting camera fines. However, technology can now handle this very easily. As soon as a violator of the speed restriction is caught on camera a notice of fine will be sent to his mobile phone. Karaoğlanoğlu Antis Sea Festival has been completed The 'Karaoğlanoğlu Antis Sea Festival', which was held for the second time this year as part of the 'Girne Arkın Group Fest24', held a magnificent finale on Sunday, September 15. Great interest in the Girne '3rd Gymnastics Feast' As part of 'Girne Arkın Group Fest 24', on Saturday, September 14, at Girne Amphitheater, the '3rd Gymnastics Federation' organized by the TRNC Gymnastics Federation. Gymnastics Feast' was staged. The feast, which included approximately 850 gymnasts in different age categories, was accompanied by a dense crowd. The performances, which included special choreography, received a standing ovation from the parents and the audience. Iskele Represented The TRNC In Silifke İskele Municipality Folk Dance Ensemble as well as İskele Municipality Stars Folk Dance Ensemble continue to represent our country on the international platform successfully. President Ersin Tatar meets Ambassador from Switzerland President Ersin Tatar has met with Christoph Burgener, Ambassador of Switzerland accredited to the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus. Switzerland is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. The meeting, held at the Presidency on Thursday, was also attended by Special Representative of the President, Güneş Onar and the Presidential delegation. The play ‘Tartüf 24’ received a standing ovation The play ‘Tartüf 24’ staged by the Lefkoşa Municipality Theatre took the stage on Wednesday evening, September 11, as part of the ‘Girne Arkın Group Fest24’. The play, staged at 9:00 p.m. at the Girne Amphitheatre, was watched by an audience of approximately 1,500. Written by Moliere in the 7th century and later fictionalized by Nazım Hikmet, the political comedy ‘Tartüf 24’ received a standing ovation from the audience. At the end of the play, which lasted approximately two and a half hours, the play’s director Yaşar Ersoy, Girne Mayor Murat Şenkul and Lefkoşa Turkish Municipality Mayor Mehmet Harmancı each gave speeches. In his speech, Yaşar Ersoy commemorated Işın Cem, one of the founders of the Lefkoşa Municipality Theatre who passed away a year ago, and reminded that they dedicated the play ‘Tartüf 24’ to Cem.
