KURT KROMER, the famous German Actor, Comedian and television star paid a visit to Northern Cyprus recently to sample some authentic Turkish Cypriot food.
He popped into Lefkosia in the middle of a whistle-stop country wide food exploration tour for the Amazon Prime Documentary series “The Dinner Club”. Which will be aired in December.
He had already visited France, Italy, Switzerland and Mexico and following his visit to Cyprus is off to Scotland to sample some Haggis, Tatties and Neeps.
A production crew of 15 from the German television company, Endermol Shine Group crossed the border from the South to be met by Peter Wills from North Cyprus Film Productions who facilitated the visit.
Wandering through the streets of old Lefkosia, Kromer first stopped off at the Buyuk Han, spoke with shop and restaurant owners before avidly watching some locals playing Backgammon , a visit to the Gamblers Inn then alongside the Grand Mosque, sadly covered in Scaffolding and metal hoardin...

Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus regarding the attack on Turkish Cypriot youths in the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus:
We strongly condemn the attack on a group of our youths on 18 February 2024 during their trip to the Troodos region of the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus (GCA).
Our youths, who were on their way back to our country following a trip to the Troodos region, stopped at the Platania picnic area on their way, where they were attacked by a group of Greek Cypriots with bats and stones wrapped in Greek flags. This unacceptable incident has shown the heights to which unabated and increasing racism, animosity and hate speech towards Turks has reached in the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus. The sole reason behind the continuation of such incidents which have also taken place in the past, is the inadequacy and ineffectiveness of the Greek Cypriot administration in bringing t...

They came in their smart team bus together with many of their supporters, who were treated to a Champions performance by their team who are now 17 points ahead of their nearest rivals, who in all but name are CHAMPIONS.
Result ; ESENTEPE KKSK 0 MIRACLE DEĞİRMENLIK SK 4
Sunday, February 18, 2024: AKSA League 1: Esentepe Erdal Barut Stadium.
Weather: sunny at first, showers later.
Esentepe suffered their heaviest home defeat for many a season, they can have no complaints, they were outclassed, outgunned and outfought by a team who are Super League in all but name.
If Esentepe has aspirations of the Super League then this is a rude awakening of what standard of football they can expect.
Everything about Değirmenlik is first class, not only their team bus, it’s on how they prepare in the warm-ups, and their preparation is spot on. Yes, they have rich sponsors, and ambitious owners they can sign top players, but their performances on the field warrant it. A...

We recently received and published a reader's mail from A.A. Wisley in which he went into great detail suggesting the so-called Republic of Cyprus did not exist. Wisley concluded, that neither could the RoC click here.

Introduction from Chris Elliott…
The world is aware, but does not acknowledge the Greek Cypriot constant pressure through misinformation and using the UN. US, EU, UK and others to do their dirty work by enforcing their narrative that the rule of the island of Cyprus is theirs and theirs alone to the detriment of the Turkish Cypriots and Taskin Ismet of the human rights group “EMBARGOED” has sent us the following shocking news for sharing around the world. “Dear Members and friends of Embargoed! As you may already be aware, Booking.com have recently added a warning on their website for any potential bookings being made in the TRNC.Aside from being factually incorrect (as it suggests that the TRNC is unsafe) it displays clear bias in favour of the Greek Cypriot Administration in the south of the island. There is little doubt that the warning has been added after Greek Cypriot pressure.Given that Booking.com continue to host Turkish Cypriot accommodation on their site, it is total hypoc...

Further to our recent article “ Why is the UN struggling to get the Cyprob solved?” which was based upon the enormous amount of facts from the internet which sadly shows the Greek Cypriots and their supporters have overshadowed the Turkish Cypriots when promoting the TRUTH of Cyprob throughout the years.
So it's good that one of our readers, Ufuk Yilmaz was concerned that the question of the EU’s decision for the so-called Republic of Cyprus to become a member has led to a progressive move by the RoC to maintain their superiority and drive for control and dominance for the whole of the Island of Cyprus.
Their continued unwillingness to agree to UN reunification plans and then their demands being fully supported by the EU, UN, UK and the US, etc who dream of re-unification which the RoC only wants on their terms, which means total control and dominance of the Turkish Cypriots just like in the early 1960’s but without ethnic cleansing attempts...

Esentepe suffered their 3rd consecutive defeat in a match that they should not have lost but a combination of poor defending and refereeing led to this Derby defeat.
Result : DÜZKAYA KOSK 3 ESENTEPE KKSK 1
Sunday February 11, 2024 : AKSA League 1 : Çatalköy Nıhat Bağcıer Stadium
Weather: Mild and sunny.
As expected a big “Derby “ day crowd was in attendance, I would say the majority came from Esentepe.
These supporters spent most of the match getting more irate, frustrated and finally their tempers boiled over after Düzkaya third goal came from a controversial penalty. This resulted in the match being stopped for at least 5-8 minutes as spectators tried to scale the fence, their target being referee Ferhat Tuna. Fortunately, not many spectators succeeded in scaling the fence, Police quickly were on the scene, even the Mayor of Çatalköy -Esentepe, Ceyhun Kırok tried to calm tempers. Throughout the match Mr. Tuna's decisions enraged the Esentepe support...

Taking advantage of the cheap winter flights we decided on a few days in Istanbul during the school holidays. There is plenty to entertain kids of all ages and a long weekend is thoroughly recommended! (All prices in this article I have converted to GBP at the exchange rate at the time of writing).
Focused on children’s activities rather than shopping and night life we opted for a fairly central hotel in the Golden Horn area. We chose the excellent Movenpick hotel which gave us water views, a really nice room and tasty breakfast (which passed the fresh orange juice test!). This hotel worked out around £100 a night B+B which seemed reasonable for a room with 3 occupants in a branded 5* in a major city. There are 100s of hotels though, and it is well worth deciding on the area you want and then spending 30 mins on Trip Advisor looking at facilities and reviews.
A word or two on transport. Istanbul is very well served with buses,...

We wish to thank ÇATALKÖY -ESENTEPE BELEDIYE for coming to the centre to complete work on the internal fence.
With the recent arrival of new dogs this has caused us a major headache trying to keep our "old “dogs and "new" ones separate as sometimes it’s been like World War 3 with dogs fighting - pack mentality.
The centre is run by the Belediye but they understood the problem we had and this morning 9th February 2024 workman came and completed the fence. This means instead of the new dogs being kept in cages for most of the day, they have now a little more freedom.
Thank you to the Belediye. A big thank you to a young couple YELİZ and CEM who saw our recent appeal for volunteers. This couple live in Girne but still made the effort to come and help us.
They couldn't have chosen a worse time for their first shift with us, the Belediye working to complete the inner fence, us trying to get rid of the "Processionary Caterpillars which we...

So this sunny Sunday I decided to visit the market and sure enough, there were lots of stalls selling clothes although there was one stall with fruit and some vegetables and one stall with second-hand electrical goods with a few electrical items mixed in with clothes on two other stalls. Walking around after asking a few questions I was directed to a nice gentleman called Ahmet whose stall was the electrical items and it turned out that he was the man to speak with for those wanting to hire a table to sell their second-hand goods on.
He told me the market was split into 2 sections with one half with just one table which could be hired for 200 TL for the morning and in the other ...

Unlike last year, our representatives are working on the 'Go To Kyrenia' project, which aims to promote small and medium-sized businesses in Girne city. As part of the project, footage for 'Go To Kyrenia' was shown to fairgoers on a giant screen. The QR codes of businesses in Girne were distributed to many agencies and representatives.
The EMITT Fair, which hosts nearly 40,000 industry professionals every year, will end on Friday, February 9th.
